Meet Ellie

We met on a sunny afternoon. As I walked toward Ellie and her Mom, I overheard a whisper. Then, I heard it again. Ellie was saying hello to her shadows. Right then, I knew it was going to be a great session. Ellie and I quickly became friends. Her fun personality is contagious and easily came across on camera. We danced to music, picked flowers, played the guitar and searched for fairies.

As Ellie stroked the guitar strings, beautiful chords rang aloud. Thank to her dad, a guitar player himself, Ellie has talent and skills.

We explored the many barns of Windsor Castle Park. Stopping often to add new plants to our bouquet of flowers. As clouds covered the sun and a chill was felt, we paused for quick warm-ups in a blanket. I took advantage of these moments and captured many candid moments.

A few favorite images from Ellie’s session are these three. They are moments in which she reminded me of my own childhood. Like, taking the time to stop and smell the flowers…every last one. Exploring a magical tree in search of its wonders. And, taking the time to watch the sunset without a care in the world.

Thank you Ellie for sharing these beautiful moments with me. Wonderful moments we turned into memories for your family. Read on to learn about a few of Ellie’s favorite things.

Southern Glory: Magnolia Grandiflora

“The flower doesn’t dream of the bee. It blooms and the bee comes.” Mark Nepo

Twice blessed, I have lived in homes with Little Gems, a smaller variety of the southern Magnolia Grandiflora. Though not grand in size, her beauty remains so. My Georgia gem slept dormant for two years. Just as I was giving up hope, she awoke by the third year. Gloriously and majestically she bloomed! The beauty of her creamy white blooms and deep green leaves did me in.

The intoxicating fragrance of the blooms fill the air with powerful notes of citrus. Every part of the flower, delicate and sweet, radiates of the tartness. The aroma caught in the wind, does its job and they come.

Partners in dance, the bee and the bloom, give and take. Pollinate and spread her seeds, good honey bee. We need you.
